Thrid grade class LEARNS ABOUT WOOL AND SAORI WEAVING

Today  was a wonderful day . A 3rd  grade class visits Saori Santa Cruz to learn all about wool,  Last night I lined up a few of my saori looms , wheels , and drumcarder to be taken out on the deck to set up for the class visit today.

Deck set up this morning early  and ready for the 17 students , plus parents and teachers......

  OK READY SET GO!

hands on weaving
 sucess!

Many thanks to the mom's and teachers for there help winding bobbins....
supervising the spining wheel, and drum carder  while I helped the students weaving.

Snack break, it was hard to pry some students  from the loom and weaving!
Thank you Alison, holding a lovely cardered wool batt.  She has a daughter in the class and  helped coordinate the fun class visit.
 SUCCESSES spinning too.

 But They loved weaving!

Time to  go, some moaning they wanted to stay, but I had so much fun too , a really great  wonderful day!
Thanks to all the moms who carpooled and helped .... I am  off to clean up ....

wait what is this confetti ? The looms on the deck  had the plum tree blossoms sprinkled all over them they  had suddenly floated to the looms, and deck , it was as  if it was a celebration for the lovely sucessful day.

The  finished cut off students group weavings. I will send  them off to there class next week. I think a baner or even  cut up in pices  then  sewen  on a long string like  flags to decorate  and drape there class  room would be cool too and my lovely thank you letters( which I hung on the gallery wall)  from  the students  and teacher.....

PEACEFUL WEAVING , with  WOOL, in the redwoods
