saori weaving class and my new saori woven new yellow fall vest i sewed

Meet Liza, Jenn and dave who came for a class and felt so relaxed and calm after sepending a couple of hours weaveing out under the redwoods, and want to come back 

 

what a fun day no prior knoiwledge or skills required.

my new saori vest. my challange i had 4 yards of finished  yellow yardage  12" wide to make it into a garment !

 my yellow cotton warp 

i  decided to make a vest   i made a muslin first ,thankgoodness . the back was fine but the front was not ok it needed re designing 

 so i decided to  turn the  uper bodice front pieces so that the fringe could hang on the front lapels which i made wider it was a gamble that worked 

the bias cut back came out cool with a nice triangle at the  back hem 

 i needed to cut more off of   arm holes and make them narrower 

 the hem i left raw top stitched so it would not unravel , i love the mini fringe effect

so i then  in turned the arm hole  seams under and hand stitched them down , i prefer hand stitching to machine top stitching for neck lines and arm holes .

i had zero waste, the one small scrap so  i used to made pockets 

and now i have a fall vest i love! it is very versatile
