Ruby is learning how to BLEND FIBERS ON A BLENDING BOARD

ruby bought a clemes blending board from me and came for a class on how to use it

she does not have room for a drum carder so a blending board is perfect for her

I needed to do an emergency fiber dying . one of my plastic totes water leaked in and the fiber was streaked wet and starting to mold

i needed to dye it right away there was more tha this photo many pounds of polwarth silk

i could not get to my dye pots or dyes but i found some and used those acid dyes to paint my sopping wet fibers
the idea was to let it solar dye and set up in the sun

it was in the  mid 90's i thought all would work i covered with black plastic garbage bags  checked the weather it was looking good then….

the temps droped 18 degrees . i waited looking at the weather report for 2 weeks then gave up
i decided by that time i had found dye pots and could steam to set

i bendled the individual groups in plastic wrap and steamed them. how ever my eletric out door heaters all were shuting off the breakers i tried inside nope would not work so the  propane stove top would have to
sufice
briught it up to 200* for a hour

then when cooled over night i opened the packets and rinsed them

i needed to do 2 sepatate ba
tches ove 3 days

they came out beautifuly

i spun on sample up

happy spining, dyeing, and carding in the redwood mountains in my saori studio
