Back in sept 2025 , over 20 buddhist monks set out to walk on foot to washington DC for peace. i followed there journey. in January of this year 2026, i wove a commemorative saori weaving to honor and mark the time and prayers they gave to the world through my weaving. they reached their goal in feb. i used the colors of their saffron garments .
here is my journey at the loom and sewing machine to create my peace walk jacket
this yardage is mostly cotton some rayon and silk but i also included some had spun art yarn i carded pieces of Buddhist prayer flag that were weather worn form years in the wind sun rain elements into my wool batt.
i designed the the jacket knowing had a finate amount of fabric. like magic i had the exact amount needed nothing left over. the pockets and sleeves hems i found a scrap of saori woven cotton that blended and so i was able to add those pockets
