Saori weaving at the beach, and the 4th annual Mavens fiber beach day.

Saori looms travel so well,  and out local fiber group "Mavens of The Fiber Forest "met for our 4th annual fiber day at Capitol beach here in California. We spun on spindles, and wheels  and wove  on saori and home built looms ,shared food and friend ship. It was a fantastic day! Some guests dropped by too.....

Jeanette and Lea . Jeanette's  upright loom was made by her son for her .

Here is Jenny  and her assistent Kristen ( holding  my saori woven umbrellas ), My talented student Jon taught Jenny , blind from birth, to spin several years ago, she is now selling her yarns,  and within this past 6 months she has now added Saori weaving with her hand spun yarns on a Saori sx60 loom.
A whole new world has opened up for her.

Maggies magnificent "saori" hand woven vest she made

This was the first time Jenny had felt the lenght of her weaving she had been learning to do the last few months .Here she is touching her weaving unfurrled  from the loom. What a powerful moment.
She was squealing with delight. Very proud.
Jeanette sat still and focused as she wove on her upright loom.

A TRULY WONDERFUL BEACH  DAY WITH MANY FRIENDS, QUITE A FEW  OF WHICH  I DID NOT GET TO PHOTOGRAPH BECAUSE I WAS HAVING TOO MUCH FUN .
