A new Saori banner #4 started, new saori weavers first scarf finished

Is anyone else busy? Gawd I am crazy busy but my fiber art  keeps me centered.
I started my  4 th of the series of saori banners. This ones is FIERY , I am calling it the "BURNNER BANNER" after the burning man festival around labor day each year. what is burning man?

Creating my own yarn cone of unique yarn right on my saori loom. All it takes is 3 seconds  to slip the wooden cone adapter right on to the saori bobbin winder, slip an empty cardboard cone on, and wind! you can purchase the Saori cone winder attachment here

Jennifer finished her first woven scarf woven in the saori style. This was to be a gift for her mom but she loved it to much, and it is her very first weaving so it means so much to her.  her next scarf is going to be for her mom. Great scarf Jennifer.

Learning saori weaving and rigid heddle loom weaving

Ah the dilemma of   wanting  to learn to weave on a rigid heddle loom but  also intrigued with Saori weaving. So I  did a class using both types of looms. My new student confessed that she is quite rigid and not prone towards  improvising.

I think she did fantastic improvising!

On to learning how to warp the Glimakra Emilia rigid heddle loom for weaving a scarf.

winding the warp out on the deck.

beamed on she is threading the heddle holes.
warpd tied on and packed with sticks to leave room for the fringe . She is Ready to weave
Check back in  a couple of weeks and see how Jennifer's  scarf turns out as she is taking the ridgid heddle loom home to continue to weave on her scarf but ssh  I think it is a gift for her mum..

So many want to learn to sew for many reasons. From starting a new business, to making there own wedding dress, or to  use there own handwovens to sew new clothing,  and many more reasons.
Sara came into sewing because she wanted to create her own wedding dress last year. once she did that she realized that she can take  control her own taste  and she wanted to continue to sew.  She sought me out because she wanted to learn to sew and wants to start her clothing line in her own shop on line. So we started this week.
A look into her progress.
